Tafelmusik performs the Allegro, from Concerto in G Minor for 2 cellos by Antonio Vivaldi.
These clips are from a screen adaptation of a Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra theatrical presentation that draws correlations between baroque art and music. I directed the Toronto studio shoot and edit featuring performances of pieces by Bach, Handel, Marais, Vivaldi, Purcell, Telemann, and Sweelinck. Using four cameras, a quad split monitor and intercoms, I guided the cinematographers, each a DOP in his and her own right, through a process of discovery. There is a casual documentary sensibility about the camera work, capturing relationships among the musicians, their instruments, and the music itself. For the demo, I have chosen two segments: Vivaldi’s Allegro from Concerto in G Minor for 2 cellos; and, Bach’s Allegro from Concerto for 2 violins in D Minor.
